At Sweet Vanilla, we acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq Peoples.
This land, known as Wolastokuk (the beautiful and bountiful river) and Mi’kma’ki, has been a place of gathering, creation, and nourishment for generations.

We are grateful to share in this land’s abundance, to build our craft here in Saint John, and to contribute to a community that honours its Indigenous roots.

Romy is the heart and creative force behind Sweet Vanilla. A self-taught French-inspired baker who spent a decade in France and grew up in Madagascar, she brings a rare blend of artistry, culture, and authenticity to every creation. Her journey began in 2019 at a small local market, driven by passion and a dream to share the beauty of French pâtisserie with her new community in Saint John. Romy’s desserts reflect her story — refined yet warm, elegant yet approachable — combining classic French techniques with tropical influences and heartfelt craftsmanship. Through Sweet Vanilla, she continues to inspire joy and connection, one pastry at a time.
